Space Marine 2 is an incredibly anticipated title among gamers and fans of the video game series. It was recently clarified that the game would feature a campaign, PvE, and a PvP mode.

That was fantastic news since the PvE mode is now viral, thanks to games like Helldivers 2. But it seems like the upcoming Saber Interactive video game has, on paper, outclassed the Arrowhead title in terms of PvE.

In PvE modes, things can get stale quickly. That is why games that have gotten the PvE formula right usually use a game master or a director to keep things fresh.

In the case of Helldivers 2, the game master is Joel, a professional employed by the developer studio. The game master controls the intergalactic war, forming the basis of the game’s lore and premise. However, with Space Marine 2, the game uses an AI director to keep up the challenge in the PvE mode.

While one can argue that no AI can come close to a human’s management and game-mastering skills, if done correctly, this inclusion may usher in a new norm for PvE modes in multiplayer video games.

Also, not many players may know, but the former Arrowhead CEO also shared that he would like the studio’s latest game to be enjoyed by fans as long as possible. He even stated that he wouldn’t mind using automation for the same.

Helldivers 2 is indubitably one of the most successful PvE live-service games of 2024. Before it was revealed that Space Marine 2 would go forward with an AI director or game master, Pilestedt made an incredibly wholesome statement in a Q&A session hosted on the game’s Discord.

He was replying to fans who wondered if their licenses would be snatched just because they lived in regions where PSN wasn’t supported. The former CEO stated that if they purchased the game, they could enjoy it forever.

He also stated that if it were up to him, he would automate the Galactic War so that the game never ceases to exist, even if the company runs out of resources to support it.
