The 5 Best PlayStation Games That Respect Your Time

PlayStation has earned a reputation for offering amazing game experiences that are usually not found anywhere else, at least for a while until some get ported to PC. With its gaming catalog, most of the titles that Sony’s console offers get the point across in a suitable amount of time without overstaying their welcome.

These days, RPGs take up hours upon hours of the players’ time, which might be appreciated by some since they’re getting value for their money, but for those gamers who don’t have too much time to spare, here are the greatest PlayStation titles that are relatively short but sweet.

The Five PlayStation Titles That Don’t Overstay Their Welcome

Bloodborne

Bloodborne is considered to be one of the greatest PlayStation exclusives of all time.

Elden Ring may be FromSoftware’s magnum opus, but Bloodborne is the developer’s relatively hidden gem that still holds up today. Everything about the Miyazaki game was outstanding, ranging from the gothic city of Yharnam to the weapons that felt like they had their own individual personalities. Becoming one half of the Soulsborne genre, Bloodborne is one of the greatest PlayStation exclusives ever made.

The best part about Bloodborne is that it can be beaten in around 33 hours if one just focuses on the main objectives, but the 100% completion run requires 76 hours.

**** of War

While staying faithful to what came before, **** of War revamped the franchise.

While Ragnarok may not have been able to do justice to everything set up in the 2018 soft reboot, Santa Monica’s first take on the **** of War series was extraordinary. Completely revamping the franchise while staying faithful to the previous entries, the game looks gorgeous thanks to stunning Nordic landscapes, and accompanied by brutal combat, seamless one-shot production, and a grand soundtrack, it’s a definitive PlayStation experience.

**** of War also humanizes Kratos and introduces fans to his son, Atreus, making the gaming icon more relatable.

The main story in **** of War takes 20.5 hours to beat, whereas a completionist run demands 51 hours.

Marvel’s Spider-Man

With Marvel’s Spider-Man, Insomniac Games set a high benchmark for every other superhero game.

Insomniac Games’ 2018 Spider-Man adaptation felt like the long-overdue Marvel answer to DC’s excellent Arkham series, and with the help of modern technology, the developer showed exactly what the PlayStation 4 was capable of. The studio totally understood the character of Peter Parker, ensuring that he was just as quippy as his comics counterpart, while also throwing in an intense original story with plenty of Easter eggs and references for Spidey fans.

Swinging around the bustling city of New York, helping out civilians, and stopping ****** had never felt this satisfying before.

With just 17 hours required for the main story and 35 needed to 100% complete it, Marvel’s Spider-Man is a PlayStation essential.

Final Fantasy XVI

Get ready for some epic Eikon set pieces in Final Fantasy XVI.

One of the most epic video game releases of last year was Final Fantasy XVI, which got overshadowed due to its June launch date and by the other massive AAA titles of 2023. Despite being an action role-playing game and not really focusing much on the RPG elements, it becomes more of a linearly grand experience, with stellar graphics, colossal Eikon set pieces and battles, and a fun cast of characters.

Square Enix’s presentation of the narrative is also quite impressive, as it keeps the player hooked with strong visual appeal and breathtaking music.

The main story in Final Fantasy XVI takes about 37 hours to get through, whereas it can be 100% completed in 79.

The Last of Us Part II

The Last of Us Part II may be extremely controversial, but it is a technical marvel.

Look, one might have gripes with how Naughty Dog handled some of the plot points for beloved characters and disagree with the narrative choices that the game makes, but The Last of Us Part II is a gaming experience unlike any other. It is a technical marvel that really pushed the boundaries of the PlayStation 4’s power capabilities, utilizing hyperrealistic graphics to tell one of the most controversial video game stories in recent times.

The production design is mind-blowing, the combat encounters feel genuinely real and gut-wrenchingly brutal, and its emotional beats definitely hit, whether one agrees with them or not.

It just takes 24 hours for The Last of Us Part II‘s story to end and 42.5 hours to fully complete it.
