Leeds hospital ***** plotter guilty of ******* charge

A man who plotted to ***** a hospital in Leeds has been found guilty of preparing for an act of terrorism.

Mohammad Farooq, 28, targeted St James’s Hospital in January 2023 but was stopped by a member of the public.

A trial at Sheffield Crown Court heard how the clinical support worker had planned to “***** as many nurses as possible” by detonating a pressure cooker *****.

Jurors unanimously convicted Farooq, of Hetton Road in Leeds. He will be sentenced at a later date.

Farooq was employed by the hospital at the time as a nursing assistant.

He was stopped from carrying out the ******* by a patient who moved him away from the building, talked him down and called police.
