Diamond Member Pelican Press 0 Posted March 21 Diamond Member Share Posted March 21 Even GTA 6 Won’t Stop Xbox Potentially Getting a Rare but Significant Win Over PlayStation Bad news for PS5 GTA fans, GTA 6 might not be running at a smooth 60FPS even on the upcoming PS5 Pro. According to leaks of the console’s specs, you’ll be seeing a huge boost in visuals, but not so much performance-wise Tech expert and Digital Foundry founder Rich Leadbetter has weighed in on expectations for GTA 6 running at 60FPS on the PS5 Pro. Following Insider Gaming’s reports on the PS5 Pro specs, Leadbetter dampened hopes for enhanced performance. The PS5 Pro Won’t Run GTA 6 That Well data:image/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns=The best GTA 6 performance you’ll get from the PS5 might be at 30FPS Speaking on Digital Foundry Direct, Leadbetter emphasized that the PS5 Pro’s CPU upgrade likely won’t deliver significant improvements for GTA 6. The PS5 Pro features a ‘High CPU Frequency Mode’ boosting the CPU to 3.85GHz, a modest increase over the standard console. However, Leadbetter cautioned that this increment might not substantially impact FPS for most games, including GTA 6. While the Pro’s superior GPU promises enhanced visuals, we can’t be too sure how well the game is going to run on the console. And if the PS5 Pro struggles, what do PS5 base and slim model users have to look forward to? The Xbox Series X is forecasted to also struggle to run the game at 60FPS. But, at least we’re not buying a whole new console to get that experience. An Overview of the PS5 Pro Leaked Specs data:image/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns=Is it really worth upgrading from the PS5 at this moment? Earlier this month, Insider Gaming released This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up on the upcoming PS5 Pro’s supposed specs. The PS5 Pro boasts improved system memory bandwidth at 576 GB/s, a notable 28% increase compared to the standard model. Additionally, the console’s CPU mirrors that of the standard PS5 but offers a ‘High CPU Frequency Mode,’ pushing it to 3.85GHz, albeit with minor GPU downclocking. This tweak might slightly affect overall performance but isn’t expected to dramatically alter gameplay experiences. Aside from CPU and memory enhancements, the PS5 Pro’s audio capabilities receive a boost with a higher clock speed for the Audio Coprocessor Unit (ACV), resulting in 35% more performance in the ACM library. The GPU will render significantly faster, support much higher ray-tracing capabilities, and feature great visual enhancements like PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution Upscaling (PSSR) and custom machine learning architecture. Again, none of this translates to 4K 60FPS. Hearing that the PS5 Pro’s performance won’t be that much better is quite disappointing, considering how we’re already getting graphic-heavy games like Dragon’s Dogma 2 that run 30fps or lower… uncapped. The PS5 Pro is said to release later this year during the holiday season. However, because of the lack of first-party PS5 titles released in 2024, it could be pushed to 2025. Is it really acceptable to release games that aren’t well-optimized for current-gen consoles? Or does Playstation need to play catch-up with other platforms and release a better console?
