‘Too good to be true’ Next-Gen Skyrim-like May Not Be All it Seems

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is a name that’s nothing short of a cult classic, and often a video game that defined an era of open-world RPGs. However, no other game has lived up to that hype in the modern timeline of gaming, but that may change soon.

An upcoming game called Alkahest is seemingly marketing itself as a title that blends player freedom with magic, spells, monsters and elements that made Skyrim so special. Unfortuantely, not everyone in the community is excited about this.

Gamers Would Love to Have Another Skyrim, but Only if Its Bethesda

Developer Push On’s first big game looks to be quite promising. Alkahest is an RPG that mixes fantasy elements with melee combat; a recipe that we may have witnessed in many games lately. But, only few get it right.

Even with a neat trailer that showcases the world and certain gameplay elements, not everyone is hyped for this one. For instance, journalist and creative director Kirk McKeand is truly not up for any antipation with this Skyrim-esque game.

In fact, Kirk even compared the game to The Day Before, a game that’s known to be the ideal example of a game in recent times that ******* any kind of positive expectation a fan could have from an upcoming title.

However, is it even fair to criticize a game before even watching any actual gameplay? Well, people in the gaming community continue to show concern by something that looks a bit “too promising”. This can be a challenging sentiment for many.

After multiple projects like the launch of No Man’s Sky and The Day Before, it’s only natural for fans to keep their expectations at an all-time low to protect themselves from disappointment.

Transparent Communication Might Be in Favour of the Devs

account, you’ll spot endless responses to posts clarifying any doubts someone may have about the game. Clearly, there’s a lot more the makers of Alkahest want to show us, and keeping people in a loop of communication like this is always a good sign.

It’ll be interesting to see how Alkahest stands the test of time and experimentation, as enough mods have made sure that games from Bethesda feel better with continuous updates.

This gives the developers a chance to prove their mettle.

If the devs continue to respond to fans and update the game based on what they like and dislike, there’s a good chance that the RPG can truly live up to a positive hype, rather than being ridiculed by those who side with cynicism.

What are your thoughts on the game? Do you think it will be a next-gen Skyrim? Let us know in the comments below.
