Diamond Member Pelican Press 0 Posted June 30, 2024 Diamond Member Share Posted June 30, 2024 De Koning out in late change for Blues against Tigers Carlton ruck-forward Tom De Koning is a late withdrawal for his side’s clash with AFL rivals Richmond, replaced by Marc Pittonet. De Koning has been ruled out because of “soreness” and will miss his first game of the season when the Blues run out at the MCG on Sunday. In a statement, Carlton says the 24-year-old is being managed and is expected to be fit to play against Greater Western Sydney next round. Pittonet has played just six senior games this season because of injuries and form – most recently in round 11 – with De Koning preferred as the No.1 ruckman in recent weeks. Adam Cerra is back from a hamstring injury for Carlton, replacing Corey Durdin, while Richmond’s midfield is bolstered by the return of Jacob Hopper. Mid-season recruit Jacob Blight will debut for the Tigers and key forward Tom ****** is sidelined with another hamstring injury. Pittonet will do battle with Richmond captain Toby Nankervis, who is lining up for his 150th AFL game. Blues defender-turned-forward Zac Williams will reach the same milestone. Carlton (14-4) enter the contest on a four-match winning streak, eager to solidify second spot behind leaders Sydney. Richmond (2-12) are searching for their third victory of coach Adem Yze’s first season at the helm as they resume after a mid-season bye.
