A user recently created a mod that enables Starfield to run at 120 FPS on the Xbox Series S. Using the Creations Lab tool, this player achieved the impossible—something that even Todd Howard and Bethesda couldn’t do after seven years.

Users were amazed to see how a single individual could achieve what an entire studio of hundreds of people could not, but at the same time, this mod is not as solid in other aspects; it has a very noticeable downgrade in graphics.

Not even Todd Howard’s team managed to do this with the game. This quickly went viral on social media, with many videos showing how this particular mod works.

This mod was created by the Creations Lab of the game.

In an extensive video showing gameplay at 120 FPS on the Series S, it is clear that this player did a fantastic job achieving this goal. However, some users were surprised to discover that the console’s graphical performance significantly decreased in order to achieve this frame rate.

On X, many commented that the studio could have achieved this but was not willing to sacrifice graphical quality to improve performance.

The creator of this mod explains in the video that achieving this high performance requires losing all types of texture quality in the game. Nevertheless, many players might be willing to sacrifice this quality for the game to run at 120 FPS on the home console. On the other hand, most users prefer to continue playing the game as it is, preserving the graphical quality and maintaining the game’s outstanding visual appeal.

Although the studio has not yet confirmed the expansion’s release date, they have already unveiled the first trailer, showcasing several new story elements and introducing new items and features for players to utilize. The only known fact is that it will arrive sometime this year. The company is also preparing other games set to be released in 2024, such as Avowed, Indiana Jones, and others.
