Starfield’s Shattered Space is a Complete 180 from Everything the Main Game Was, From the Way it was Made to the Lack of Universe Exploration

Starfield‘s newest addition, Shattered Space, is more than just an expansion for many people. It is the game’s big chance at redemption and a way to avoid cementing its fate as the least innovative and least creative Bethesda game of them all.

After its recent reveal at the Xbox Games Showcase, the excitement of experiencing what Bethesda has crafted is palpable. Now, Todd Howard has also revealed some essential information surrounding the expansion, lifting the veil and revealing it to be quite the departure from the base game.

People are still recovering from the ***** dealt by Starfield‘s inclusion of paid mods into the game.

Right now, Bethesda is already in quite a hot spot with the reveal of Starfield: Creations and what many consider absurd prices for the mods. While some of this has undoubtedly dampened the excitement for the game’s upcoming expansion, many remain excited about it.

Perhaps to reignite and keep the hype going, Todd Howard recently unveiled some fascinating details surrounding Shattered Space. He revealed how the expansion would take place on a new planet and city that is wholly handcrafted and has zero procedural generation while de-emphasizing the universe exploration aspect of the base game.

Along with this, he also revealed how the expansion is one of the many yearly expansions Bethesda is planning for the game, with a second expansion already in the works, as X/

So far, reactions to this new information have ranged from mixed to positive. While many consider the decision to dial the focus down to one handcrafted planet a positive change for the game, others think the lesser emphasis on universe exploration a step in the wrong direction.

At the moment, it may still be too early to make any judgment surrounding the expansion, as it is still quite a ways off. However, much of the discussion is centered on one core theme that Bethesda, too, mustn’t avoid: whether or not Shattered Space can save the game.

The atmosphere and visuals showcased by Shattered Space are unlike anything in the base game.

Many will remember a time when Bethesda games’ mods were created for the players, by the players, and for free. With their intrusion into Starfield‘s modding ecosystem, some believe they have squandered the game’s chance for a successful future.

While the game hasn’t been doing all that well from a modding perspective anyway, there is a possibility that Shattered Space may save Bethesda’s reputation and the game from its saddening decline.

From what people have seen so far, the expansion feels like a ******** departure from everything Bethesda has done in the base game, from visuals to game design. Could we also see a reduction in loading screens? Only time will tell.

At the same time, however, the base game still needs a lot of work, and ultimately, it is what will draw people in for the long run. So, whether or not these expansions’ departure can be successful ******** to be seen.

What are your thoughts on Shattered Space so far? Are you excited to get your hands on it? Let us know in the comment.
