A new report and website code findings suggest that Call of Duty could be entering the Esports World Cup with a nearly $3 million prize pool.

, who claims that “several sources” have said that Call of Duty will feature at the Esports World Cup in Saudi Arabia, with both Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone tournaments. According to the report, the prize pool will be just shy of $3 million, which will be a part of the overall $45 million planned for the Esports World Cup.

According to Hale, the Esports World Cup website had code suggesting an announcement could be on the horizon, but it has since been deleted. The code allegedly found was:

The outlet has verified with its sources that a Call of Duty event for Modern Warfare 3 from August 15-18 is planned, with a prize pool of $1.8 million. Another event for Call of Duty Warzone is planned for July 3-6, with a prize pool of $1 million. The website stresses that the information is not currently confirmed.

Although the details are yet to be confirmed, teams and companies involved in EWC have been criticized for their involvement due to Saudi Arabia’s numerous human rights abuses, as well as the country’s stance on LGBTQ+ rights, women’s rights, and its handling of dissent. Some esports teams have opted not to be involved in the EWC because of these reasons.
