Atari just acquired Intellivision brand

Atari has acquired the Intellivision brand from toy maker Mattel and will continue development of the Amico with a license by the parent. The deal itself doesn’t actually come with it, so the brand is just license.

. The deal also came with “certain games” from the newly acquired company. The goal of the acquisition is to expand distribution — both physically and digitally — of the brand’s vast library. It also says there’s a possibility of making new games.

Wade Rosen called it a “rare opportunity” to unite the two, considering the staunch rivalry the game companies had in the past.
