Nintendo Buys Studio That Ported Hogwarts Legacy

Shiver Entertainment, the studio that ported games like Hogwarts Legacy and Mortal Kombat 1 to the console. Nintendo is buying 100% of the outstanding shares from Embracer Group.

The Miami-based Shiver will now become a wholly-owned subsidy of Nintendo.

“By welcoming Shiver’s experienced and accomplished development team, Nintendo aims to secure high-level resources for porting and developing software titles,” Nintendo said in a press release.

“Going forward, even after it becomes a part of the Nintendo group, Shiver’s focus will remain the same, continuing commissions that port and develop software for multiple platforms including Nintendo Switch.”

The purchase of Shiver is the first studio acquisition by Nintendo since it bought Luigi’s Mansion 3 developer Next Level Games in 2021.

“The Acquisition will be completed pending satisfaction of all relevant customary closing conditions,” Nintendo says. It added that the purchase will have “only a minor effect” on the company’s financial
