GTA 5 is the 3rd Most Sold Game Ever After Hitting 200M Sales

Maybe its video games weren’t well received by critics and fans alike, which may make the current gaming market appear dull, but games like GTA 5 are still alive and well, and gamers across the world can’t get enough of them. Recently, the game reached another milestone, proving why it is stacked among the best-selling games of all time.

Its successor, GTA 6, is still under development and is said to be coming at some point next year. However, it may get delayed as players are said to come across the biggest map they’ve ever witnessed in a Grand Theft Auto game. That doesn’t go without saying, the game won’t be reaching anywhere near its predecessor’s record without breaking a sweat.

Latest GTA 5 Sales Figures Show It Still has a Lot of Left in it

GTA 5 is still 320 million copies behind to reach the top.

Take-Two Interactive revealed their earnings report, where it was revealed that GTA 5 has finally touched the new landmark, selling 200 million copies of the game across the globe. With that, the Grand Theft Auto franchise has collectively sold 425 million copies.

In addition to that, Red ***** Redemption 2 has sold 64 million copies globally. Just recently, it was rumored that its predecessor would finally be arriving on PCs after much waiting. It could strengthen the numbers if that happens, and we might see another franchise touching a milestone.

Nevertheless, it wasn’t a fruitful quarter for Rockstar’s parent company, as it posted a loss of $2.9 billion in its earnings. This includes but is not limited to, a $2.18 billion goodwill charge, over $304 million in acquisitions, restructuring-related expenses, and more.

As the GTA 5 successor will take over the franchise, the company should be relying heavily on the game. It also suffered what became one of the greatest video game leaks of all time.

200 Million Copies? That’s Not Even Close to the Top

The game’s successor is slated to launch next year.

GTA 5 has undoubtedly proven itself in the top-tier league, but it is still way behind a couple of games to become the best-selling game of all time. And it may take it a while to reach there, or may be it’ll just manage to keep up to stay at least close to it. The other two games in question are Minecraft and Tetris.

While Minecraft has sold over 300 million copies globally, Tetris ******** the undisputable king, with more than 520 million copies sold. Even today, people are trying to make new records, but obviously, if they manage to get past those glitches, that can give anyone a feeling of being ****** ******. To this day, Willis Gibson, aka Blue Scuti, holds the record for essentially breaking the game.

Though it may appear like a hard nut to ******, GTA 5 sure has the potential to add another 100 million to its sales figure, especially when GTA Online is up and running.

How are you celebrating the milestone? We would like to know your thoughts in the comments section below.
