What started out as a not-too-harsh tweet about the second game in the popular RPG franchise soon blossomed into a full-blown ******** as people shared their opinions, agreeing but mostly disagreeing with Mutahar’s opinion. Mass Effect Fans Are Enraged! data:image/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns=Fans went in to ****** for the popular franchise So, what sparked this debate? In the tweet in question, Mutahar simply stated that he wasn’t a fan of the story Mass Effect 2 has to offer; he didn’t say it was a bad game or anything so harsh, just that he didn’t care for the story. However, this proved too much for some This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up /X users, and they fought back. Nah. Muta come on dude. This is just wrong — ChristheNarc (@ChristheNarc) This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up A particularly popular response from Chris the Narc garnered a few hundred likes and thousands of views. The conversation went on and mostly got into the merits of the game’s approach to its story. Many defended the game, claiming that it was meant to be more of a setup for the third installment of the epic conclusion to the original Mass Effect Trilogy. Some, however, did take Mutahar’s side, agreeing that game pacing feels more akin to a series of side quests built around building relationships than going on an epic journey. FranklyGaming started a ****** when they broke it down, explaining that the first and third games are more memorable with world-building and set piece moments. This is Still a Franchise Worth Caring About data:image/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns=The next installment in the franchise is coming sometime soon. Most fans can probably agree, though, that Mass Effect is one of the most important franchises in the last few decades of gaming, with an epic narrative spanning three games. The fact it’s still being talked about to this day shows its influence is sure to be felt for many years to come. With a new installment in the franchise apparently on the way and the middling response to 2017’s Mass Effect Andromeda, fans will no doubt have much more to argue over in the coming years. The layoffs at the studio, however, are not really helping the franchise’s case. Whatever Bioware is cooking up, it will surely be something memorable. But what do you think?
