XDefiant will support uncapped frame rates on PC, as well as widescreen support and DX11 and DX12. Ubisoft suggests a SSD for the best experience. Ubisoft’s shooter has been a long time coming, having held an open beta last summer only to be delayed multiple times despite nearly releasing late last year. Its release comes even as Ubisoft has recently canceled other free-to-play titles like The Division: Heartland.

XDefiant has drawn comparisons to Call of Duty due to its fast-paced gameplay FPS gameplay, as well as the fact that former longtime Call of Duty producer Mark Rubin serves as XDefiant’s executive producer. It also features character classes representing factions from other Ubisoft games like Splinter Cell, The Division, and Far Cry. One key way XDefiant looks to set itself apart is by not including skill-based matchmaking, something that has been a hot topic among Call of Duty fans in recent years. It will also feature cross-play and cross-progression across platforms.
