Canceled Call of Duty Game from 11 Years Ago Had a Multiplayer Feature Fans Need in ****** Ops 6

There’s no doubt that Call of Duty has prevailed at the forefront of the FPS Genre since its release in 2003. Activision has created an impressive list of titles in the past two decades, but the franchise’s current state is quite questionable. The release of Modern Warfare (MW3) was a frustrating experience for many fans. Despite the good combat system, the lack of a good campaign and post-launch content has left the CoD franchise needing a big jump start.

Rumors are circulating about the future of the Call of Duty franchise, as the next major release, which is reported to be ****** Ops: Gulf War, might be announced much sooner than expected. Whatever the next game becomes, it surely needs this one multiplayer feature from an 11-year-old canceled CoD game to get the franchise back on track.

******* Mode in Call of Duty: Future Warfare | Activsion

Undoubtedly, Call of Duty ****** Ops 6 is one of the most anticipated games of 2024. However, the last couple of years haven’t proven to be the best for the franchise. Fans are now patiently waiting to see what Activision has planned for the next iteration of a ****** Ops game.

One of the many complaints about recent CoD games has been their multiplayer modes. Many in the community feel that Activision is lazy and isn’t experimenting with modes that could completely alter how players experience CoD games. However, it looks like an ******* mode might be what the next CoD game needs to pull in players.

Back in January 2024, never-seen-footage of a canceled Call of Duty game showed up online, giving us a look at what Activision was planning for the franchise at one point.

The canceled game, Call of Duty: Future Warfare (NX1 internally), was developed by Neversoft between 2011 and 2013. Brian Bright, one of the developers working on the game, revealed few details about the canceled title.

According to Bright, the team had developed two to three campaign missions and worked extensively on multiplayer and the franchise’s first ******* mode.

At that time, this mode involved multiple teams pushing an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) across checkout points on the map. Apparently, one side was tasked with attacking it, while the other was supposed to ******** it. That’s not all; the UGV also had a separate trophy system attached for destroying nearby explosives.

Activsion has recently added the ******* mode to MW3 with the latest Season Three Reloaded update. The game mode’s release in MW3 has been successful, which has led to many in the community wondering why the developers didn’t add ******* Mode to previous games. A game mode like this is exactly what Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6 needs at its launch.

It seems that Call of Duty ****** Ops 6 aims to shake up the franchise. Leaks suggest that the game is set during the Gulf War and features an open-world campaign. Unfortunately, we still don’t have a release date for the game.

However, the Call of Duty franchise has always delivered new titles in the final quarter of each calendar year. So, it’s safe to assume that the upcoming Call of Duty game will be released sometime in the Fall, possibly November 2024. We might also get an official release date on June 9, 2024, as Call of Duty is supposed to have its own “Direct”
