StarCraft as a franchise has sat dormant since 2017's remaster of the original game, which will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2028. StarCraft 2 launched in 2010, with its subsequent expansions concluding in 2015. Meanwhile, legendary vaporware third-person shooter StarCraft: Ghost was announced in 2002 and eventually confirmed to be cancelled in 2014.

It's unclear if this tease is related to Blizzard's own game, the one from the Nexon partnership, if those two games are one in the same, if either of them are StarCraft 3, or none of the above. IGN has reached out to Blizzard for comment on both the tease and the Nexon partnership, and will update this article if we hear back.

Either way, BlizzCon is just over a week away, so a formal announcement could be just on the horizon.
