"Weirdly, although Frosthaven improves on its predecessor in almost every respect, it’s far harder to recommend. Its sheer weight and the glory of the game that came before it holds it back. If you’re a Gloomhaven fan but you haven’t yet finished working your way through that behemoth of a box it’s better to stick with what you know for now rather than start a new project. If you’re new to the entire franchise then you should absolutely jump into that brilliant combat and exploration engine but the cut-down Jaws of the Lion is a better introduction. If you’re one of the rare few who not only have seen everything Gloomhaven has to offer but also remain hungry for more, however, Frosthaven is the banquet to satiate you. *******, bolder and better than the original, if you can find time for it in your life it’s an epic gaming experience like no other." -
