Ubisoft has cancelled The Division Heartland

Ubisoft has cancelled The Division Heartland.

The company confirmed that development of the project had ceased during its quarterly earnings call on Wednesday.

“In line with the increased selectivity of our investment, we have decided to stop development on The Division Heartland and are redeploying our resources to ******* opportunities like XDefiant and Rainbow Six Siege,” said chief financial officer Frédérick Duguet.

Heartland was set to be a free-to-play multiplayer survival-action shooter set in a fictional rural community in Middle America.

Duguet called the cancellation “a difficult but necessary and important decision”.

Developed by Red Storm Entertainment, Heartland was planned as a free-to-play multiplayer shooter for PC and consoles.

The PvEvP focused, survival-action title was to be set in the fictional rural ********* Midwest town of Silver Creek, which had been left in ruins following the spread of Dollar Flu.

During today’s earnings call, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot also said Heartland didn’t align with the company’s plans to sharpen its strategic focus on two verticals: open world adventures and native games-as-a-service titles.

Earlier today, Ubisoft revealed *********’s Creed Shadows, which is set for release on November 15, 2024.

Starring two playable characters, it will be available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S,
