During the Call of Duty in Culture panel, director and co-writer Berg revealed that the film will be set in the Modern Warfare universe. It’s part of the ongoing trend of making movies out of games to not only spread gaming culture into mass culture but to also ensure that movies have a built-in audience of gamers when they debut at the box office.

The Call of Duty movie is coming June 30, 2028.
