Meccha Chameleon, the

to absolutely dominate the web, is now second in player count to its fan-created Roblox clones.

The new indie gem is no stranger to clones, having seen an

so bold as to use its title in some regions come to light earlier this week – but those on Roblox are arguably more of a "threat," so to speak, seeing as they're freely available… and the platform boasts millions of daily users.

Unsurprisingly, there are a good few, too, ranging from "Paint and SEEK!" to "Paint Or Seek" to… "Paint To Hide!" and so on.

What is surprising, however, is that these Roblox clones have now reportedly overtaken the actual Meccha Chameleon in daily peak player count.

A

chart from RoWatcherHQ, an account that focuses on gathering data from and about Roblox, highlights this, showing that around 150,000 to over 200,000 players still engage with the clones.

These figures aren't as high as Meccha Chameleon's record of 340,534 – but they're higher than its current numbers.

Right now, as per the chart and

, Meccha Chameleon has about 55,000 players in-game. That's how many users it's boasted daily for a few days now, meaning that it's faced quite the drop – especially when lined up against the free Roblox clones, which only started to surface some three or so weeks ago.

Obviously, Meccha Chameleon isn't hitting mind-boggling lows here or anything… but it's still disheartening to see.

This isn't a first for Roblox, either, as the platform features a plethora of other game clones. From REPO to Dead by Daylight, its users have copied just about everything under the sun – and evidently, they won't be slowing down any time soon.

I do wonder if Meccha Chameleon's own developers will share their thoughts on the matter at all, or if they'll strike down the paid clones over on Steam.

Only time can tell, I suppose, but I'd advise folks to give the original game a go – it's a whole lot of chaos, and even more fun, if you ask me.
