After we wrote that Ubisoft Winnipeg was shutting down and taking 85 employees along with it, it appears Ubisoft went on somewhat of a shuttering spree and decided to close its Belgrade studio as well.

, Ubisoft Belgrade will be completely closed, which is to result in all 100 developers losing their jobs. Just like Ubisoft Winnipeg, the company’s Belgrade outpost was primarily a support studio and helped its main branches develop games such as Skull and Bones, Ghost Recon Wildlands, The Crew 2, and others.

According to Insider Gaming’s sources, Ubisoft is seeking to “revamp” how its projects are made, especially in regards to the roles played by support studios, which, apart from these shutdowns, also saw some 170 developers or more completely taken off certain games. What that’ll eventually result in is anyone’s guess, as Ubisoft hasn’t issued any official statements or responses to media.

Today, we wrote how Ubisoft decided to shutter its Winnipeg base, which was also a support studio under the Ubisoft umbrella. This reportedly significantly impacted several active and unannounced projects and also echoed in the company’s main studios, such as Ubisoft Montreal, also based in Canada.

However, as opposed to Belgrade, Ubisoft Winnipeg lost “only” 85 developers, while another ~170 were being redistributed but apparently won’t be laid off.

This is presumably part of Ubisoft’s broader restructuring efforts that saw many, many developers laid off and studios closed over the past year or so. The company continues to lose stock value and is down 95 percent compared to just five years ago. Whether these cuts will result in anything improving at Ubisoft is, as of yet, unpredictable, but I sure hope all those people now out of work find new, more stable places to set up shop.
