  1. Police have begun to disperse large crowds of protesters outside Georgia’s parliament
  2. There have been weeks of mass street protests sparked by a divisive “foreign agent” law
  3. The move by police comes as Georgian lawmakers finally pass the law – that will force civil society groups and media organisations to declare foreign funding
  4. Critics say the law is modelled on a Russian law and could be used to threaten civil liberties. The government insists it’s necessary for transparency
  5. Before the vote, there were scuffles inside parliament after MPs from the governing party reacted angrily to an opposition deputy accusing them of selling Georgia out to Russia
