Return of the Ancients is coming soon to Path of Exile 2, and we will receive the biggest update of the game in terms of new content. Developers GGG will also have a free-to-play weekend and discount campaign active for those who are yet to join the early access.

But first, let’s find out when the update goes live.

Path of Exile 2 Return of the Ancients release countdown

Return of the Ancients releases worldwide on Friday, May 29. It will launch simultaneously across all platforms, and the following countdown will expire once the update is available.

• 3pm CT
• 4pm ET
• 8pm UTC
• 9pm BST

You’ll need to update your in-game client once it’s available on your chosen platform. This is necessary for you to enjoy all the new content.

What to expect from Path of Exile 2 Return of the Ancients

Return of the Ancients will significantly increase the amount of content we have had in the game so far. There will be five new new endgame storylines for us to enjoy.

• The Origins of Divinity
• The Hare and the Raven
• Waking the Dreamer
• Rite of the Nameless
• Masters of the Atlas

There will be two new Ascendancy Classes to go through.

• Spiritwalker
• Martial Artist

The update also includes a new league titled Runes of Aldur. The league will feature 100+ crafting runes, 17+ new Kalguuran skills, and there’s the Uncharted Seas to explore. Here’s a list of more items to enjoy as part of the update.

• 15 new Bosses and Pinnacles
• New 400+ Node Atlas Tree
• Over 30 new Uniques
• Build Planner
• QoL features

If you have yet to join early access, GGG will also have a weekend for you to enjoy all the content for free. You’ll retain all your progression if you decide to buy the early access pack. It will be available at a 50% discount until June 12, allowing you to save more money.
