Vampire Crawlers, the Vampire Survivors "Turbo Wildcard" spinoff, has sold one million copies in just one week since launch, marking a pretty epic milestone for developer poncle as it expands on the genre-defining game with a new take on its addicting gameplay.

. It's got the same characters, weapons, and 16-bit charm as the first game, but from a first-person dungeon-crawling perspective that features card-based battles. It sounds like a mouthful and a bit overwhelming, but it's a ton of fun, and scratches a similar itch as the auto-battling roguelike that seems to have created its own genre.

But why stop here? Bring these silly sprites into every other genre you can think of. Why not? It's proven to be a success twice now. And I think poncle gets it, as the studio

that it's working on over 15 new projects alongside opening new studios in Japan and Italy.

How about an FPS: Vampire Shooters. An extraction shooter? Vampire Looters. A hero shooter! Vampire Heroes. A mansion-based, retro tank-controls horror game: Vampire Residents. A poker game, Vampire Gamblers. A fighting game? Vampire Fighters. It goes on and on and on, and I don't see why they should stop any time soon.

The biggest draw for this franchise, other than the satisfying gameplay loops, is that they are very affordable. Vampire Crawlers is just $10, making it incredibly attractive for just about any gamer, even if the art style may not be your thing. I think it could easily slot into just about any kind of game and do well, given time and resources. If they can maintain this sort of price point, I don't see why this franchise has to go away anywhere anytime soon.
