“We should really do it…”: Johan Pilestedt Wants Helldivers 2’s Community to Be Even More Involved

One of the best parts of the Helldivers 2 community is the way that the developers are always listening to the requests of the community. This means that players can sometimes request a feature to be looked at for a future update, but sadly, that doesn’t mean it is guaranteed to make its way.

However, for the creative side of the Helldivers 2 community, there is some potential good news, according to Johan Pilestedt, there is the possibility that competitions may be a feature that could come into the community, which will allow players to design their own items to put into the game, but sadly, this could take some time and has a few issues ahead of it.

Community competitions could one day make their way to Helldivers 2.

Helldivers 2 is famous for being directed by its community, whether it be by their choice of planets to defend/liberate or by their choice of weapons; there will always be some form of choice for gamers to choose from that could ultimately change how the game can be played.

/X teasing a new cape that was created by a fan to bring light to the recent PSN linking situation, a user commented, asking whether or not more opportunities like this will arise to give the community a chance to compete and bring more creations into the game.

In response to this request, Johan Pilestedt responded by saying, “Oh yes! That’s a great idea! Some legal hurdles to go through, but we should really do it.” which is a good sign that it is at least being thought about, but sad news that it could take some time before it finally makes its appearance.

This wouldn’t be the first time that a company has put out a competition to bring in new ideas and content for its game. Games like Monster Hunter, Warframe, Disney Dreamlight Valley, and more constantly release competitions that bring the community together to decide on new features that could eventually come to the game, and with the Helldivers 2 community, it is likely this will be an amazing decision.

Gamers could finally have their own creations in Helldivers 2.

Since this is only an idea and hasn’t been discussed properly, we do not know in what form these competitions will take, whether they will only be based on customization features like armor or capes, ******* designs, or even stratagems.

Understandably, stratagems will likely be a ******* situation to put into a competition as only a select few gamers will be able to design and, as a bonus, animate the stratagem. But if it follows the root of Warframe, in which it takes concept art, effect lists, and other information, it could potentially be a unique system.

However, the simpler decision would be to have a competition related to the customization and ******* aspects of the game, allowing players to design different armor types with different colors, different traits, and even special perks.
