Marathon will feature six factions at launch, but only one will be available by default.

While we will all begin with the CyberAcme faction, the options will expand rapidly once a fair bit of the early game content is cleared. Let's look at all six factions and how to unlock them.

Disclaimer: For Server Slam, Sekiguchi can't be unlocked. You'll need to wait until the full launch to unlock it as the sixth faction.

How to rank up factions in Marathon
Unlocking factions is just one side of the coin. You must rank up all the factions as quickly as possible. To do so, you'll need to undertake contracts. You can only have one contract active at a time (this could change later after an update).

Screenshot by Destructoid Once you undertake and complete contracts, you gain a currency called Rep. Rep is exclusive to different factions. You can also gain bonus Rep from team contracts once they've been completed successfully. This is an excellent way to rank up factions quicker.

That's pretty much all when it comes to ranking up factions. Some contracts tend to pay more Rep, but they can be significantly more challenging to complete.
