Marathon has greatly improved since its lackluster closed alpha test last April, and a wide swathe of players are finally getting to play it for themselves in this weekend's server slam.

The reaction to the open test has been mixed. Many can see the potential, while others are turned off entirely by the game's art style and graphics, but a fair few players are loving what they've played thus far, too.

I'm still somewhere in the middle about how I feel about the game from what I've experienced over multiple tests. It's definitely gotten better, but there are a number of potential issues that are popping up now that it's in the hands of the masses.

Here are a few of Marathon's biggest bug-a-boos that need to be fixed as quickly as possible.

on PC, so there's definitely some optimizations to be done.

Loot balancing

Ammunition seems to be pretty scarce when playing a round of Marathon. Healing items are, too. And when you want to resupply from the Armory, they're a bit pricy when first starting out. I think the bulk of this issue could be solved with leveling up Factions and unlocking new abilities, but changes like having UESC bots drop some ammo or healing items more often would be a step in the right direction.
