Ideally, you should begin at the Normal difficulty to get a taste of what can be found in the dungeons. Then, you can raise the difficulty as you deem fit. Once you reach Chaos Sanctuary, you'll come across the hardest of enemies. However, defeating them will also fetch you the best type of gear. The loot you get from Chaos Runs certainly makes them well worth the extra effort.

Best tips and tricks for Chaos Runs in Diablo 2 Resurrected
Chaos Runs aren't your simple dungeons where you can march through. You'll need to pay attention to your class, build, levels, and more. Here are some key pointers you should always keep in mind.

  • Prioritize which enemies you should take down first. Olivion Knights should be dealt with early since they will hex you with awful curses. For Venom Lords, you'll need to keep distance and add Fire Resistance to your build. Storm Casters don't do much damage, but they can nerf magic-based builds with Mana Burn. Finally, Diablo is the ultimate enemy. You'll need to have almost every elemental resistance by the time you face him.
  • Stack Magic Find if you're looking to gain random loot from your runs.
  • While you can gain different loot, Chaos Runs are best suited for gaining experience points. Kill as many enemies, and especially the Elites for more experience. While defeating Diablo can be rewarding, it's best to spare him and reset the run to keep farming more XP.
