All Vocations have their own stat nerfs and buffs, along with special abilities. The ideal setup is to combine them in such a way that one negates the weakness of the other. It's also important to level up Vocations as efficiently as possible.

How to level up Vocations in Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined
There are two main ways to gain Vocation Points.

  • Completing a battle gets you one Vocation Point. If you have a Mastered Vocation, you'll gain three Vocation Points instead.
  • Instant-killing an enemy also gets you one Vocation Point.
You can go to the in-game settings and raise the Vocation Points you get from winning fights. You can raise it from just one to seven Vocation Points. This is mandatory if you're aiming to raise plenty of Vocation Points to level up the abilities faster. Another option is to defeat high-tier enemies, but the method is inefficient.

Instead, raise the Vocation Points you gain from winning fights, and start contests in a low-level town. That way, you get more points significantly quicker as you win every fight, and gain Vocation Points.
