and is set to launch globally in February 2026 on iOS and Android.

Rather than continuing the long-running World Tour format of the original game, Subway Surfers City brings players back to the heart of the franchise’s universe. The game is set entirely within Subway City, a modern metropolis divided into four distinct districts at launch: The Docks, Southline, Sunrise Blvd, and Delorean Park. Additional neighborhoods are planned as part of future seasonal updates.

SYBO says the shift allows for deeper progression, more exploration, and a stronger sense of place than the original endless runner structure allowed.

Subway Surfers City gameplay screenshots. Source: SYBO On the gameplay side, Subway Surfers City introduces several mechanics not previously seen in the franchise, including speed pads, a stomp move used to uncover hidden advantages, and a bouncy shield that alters jump behavior.

For the first time, the sequel also expands beyond a single endless mode with three distinct ways to play: Classic Endless for high-score chasing, City Tour for finite, objective-driven runs across districts, and rotating Events designed to test advanced players’ skills.

In 2025, the original game surpassed 4.5 billion lifetime downloads and has consistently ranked among the top five most-downloaded mobile games every year since its 2012 debut, making it the most-downloaded mobile game in history.

With an average of 100 to 150 million monthly active players and a massive social following exceeding 30 million, the franchise has evolved into a global entertainment brand.
