Digging straight down from wherever you're standing is always a valid option, but the world of Orbis is full of deep chasms that can provide you with a natural entrance to the cavernous depths below. One was waiting for me right near my spawn point, but you might need to explore a bit to find one yourself.

Luckily, you probably won't have to stay down in the depths very long. Iron spawns at about fifty to one hundred blocks below the surface, so you don't have to dig too deep to find it. Don't worry about not being able to identify which rocks have Iron Ore in them; the giant chunks of shiny Iron ore jabbing out are a big giveaway.

To forge Iron Ore into Iron Ingots, you'll need to use your Workbench to build a Furnace. This is a very simple craft to make. All you need to make it is six Tree Trunks and
