and several others, and the term has since become interchangeable with its intended definition.

While playing ARC Raiders or watching streamers, you'll often hear people talk about "getting the goop" or "extracting goop," and that just means that they have good loot that they want to secure before they're taken out.

Goop is also the name of a line of beauty, fashion, and jewelry products by actress Gwyneth Paltrow. That is unrelated to ARC Raiders. So, too, is the Oxford definition of goop, which is "sloppy or sticky semifluid matter, typically something unpleasant." But its secondary definition, "excessive sentiment," seems more applicable.

Yeah, it's a weird one, but it's just the latest trendy term to take over gaming and internet culture.
