is a developer based in Gwacheon, South Korea, best known for its online MMORPG, ****** Desert Online. The studio has since announced a follow-up action-adventure game, Crimson Desert, which is planned for launch sometime in 2026. It created its own proprietary engine for its games, and works with a development philosophy to “never compromise on quality.”

Pearl Abyss created its own engine, called the ****** Desert Engine, alongside the development of the titular game that began in 2010. Its successor, on which it’s building Crimson Desert, is called the BlackSpace Engine.
