Diamond Member Steam 0 Posted December 12, 2025 Diamond Member Share Posted December 12, 2025 This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up Ashes of Creation is now out on Steam as developers Intrepid Studios have released their MMO in early access, and there's a host of different classes to pick from. Actually known as Archetypes, the class system in Ashes of Creation is pretty complex. While we don't have the sub-Archetypes in the game yet, there are already eight fully-developed options available to us. This guide will help you make the best decision possible when the time comes for you to pick an Archetype. Disclaimer: Summoner is yet to be assessed.Table of contents This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up Complete Ashes of Creation class tier list (Steam Launch) While the Summoner is yet to be assessed, I have ranked all the other seven classes across three different tiers. This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up Image via Intrepid Studios S-tier choices are the strongest options you can currently enjoy inside the game.A-tier choices are decent shouts as far as in-game strength is concerned.B-tier choices are worthy choices, but lack in overall strength and abilities in the current meta. Here's a quick rundown of how the different classes stack up before we deep dive into the details. TierClassSFighter, Cleric, BardATank, MageBRanger, RogueS-tierFighter: The Fighter is one of the best choices for beginners due to its all-rounded nature. It can do a lot of damage in a short time while having the ability to stay alive. Both Blood Fusion and Berserk are powerful skills, and other abilities feed them. Whether you're playing in a group or solo, Fighter is one of the safest choices.Cleric: Having a good healer is necessary in any MMO, and the stakes go up a notch in Ashes of Creation. A Cleric class player is almost necessary for any group activity. Not only can you heal fast, but you can also use your shields to protect your allies (primarily with the help of Divine Flare and Deliverance). Strangely enough, Judgement and Smite offer enough damage on the side to help you survive a fight or two on your own.Bard: If you want to play a support role but don't want to become a healer, the Bard class is a perfect choice. You have decent heal potential, but you can also buff your allies. These buffs, which primary come from abilities like Pensive, can turn the tides of a battle in your favor. The Bard also has good crowd control options like Marionette, which allows you to control the tempo of a battle.A-tierTank: The Tank is a slightly boring class in some ways, but it's a necessary one. Without a good Tank, you'll struggle to win group fights. Taunt and Reflect abilities allow the class to save quishier opponents, and then make them last longer in battles. It's slightly weak when playing alone, which is the main reason behind the A-rank.Mage: The Mage class is incredibly offensive and has extraordinary elemental powers. It's an enjoyable class for those who want to do all types of damage from range, but the defense is a significant cause of concern. The Mage arguably has the weakest defense, making it pretty hard to survive on its own. You'll also have to build it in a mana-efficient fashion to make the most of its abilities.B-tierRanger: The Ranger is a really fun class if you like shooting from a distance. It has a solid power scaling that grows with the duration of a battle. Headshot and Snipe allow you to take down weaker enemies, while skills like Bear Trap will allow you to control the battle's tempo. However, the Ranger is very squishy and struggles to survive. Moreover, it's not ideally a class that's meant to shine in longer battles (the abilities become better, but the squishy health makes it hard for you to survive).Rogue: The Rogue class is one of the best choices in PvP due to its stealthy and mobile nature. However, the class has a very high skill ceiling, as you'll need to master the general movement and timing of the attacks.
