Image via Aggro Crab To hit the 40m mark, you'll have to select a point from where you're going to jump on the Bounce *******. This point needs to be as high as possible from where the ******* is. The greater the distance, the higher the jump. That said, you should be careful not to land outside the Bounce *******, as you can take fall damage and even die in the process.

You can do the same with other mushrooms that spawn in Roots. However, you won't get a similar height on your jump, which makes it hard to obtain the Mycoacrobatics badge.
