The Axis Unseen’s Solo Dev’s Proudest Fallout 3 Moment Is a Great Sign for His Upcoming Heavy-Metal Game (EXCLUSIVE)

A lot of work in the development of Fallout and Skyrim is paying off for Nate Purkeypile as he develops The Axis Unseen all by himself. The heavy metal horror game looks out of this world. His upcoming game hasn’t got a release date, but gamers may see it coming at some point this year.

The game is being developed under his solo banner, Just Purkey Games, and will take place in an open-world setting. Recently, FandomWire sat down with Nate to discuss his journey, touching on the time spent at Bethesda and then the solo development. After the conversation, we are more than curious to play the upcoming video game.

Fallout 3 was essentially Nate’s first real gig.

Many stories associated with devs are lost in the echo after a video game has come out, but fortunately we got to catch one. Interestingly, this one is morphing into another universe where players will soon find themselves hunting creatures pulled straight out of folklore or being hunted by them.

Nate explained that his efforts for Point Lookout proved rewarding. He said,

Shipping Point Lookout for Fallout 3 was really rewarding. Making DLC is a lot of fun because the tools are stable(ish) and you know how to build content fast.

And indeed, it was sort of a miracle as the short but efficient team pulled out the challenging task.

I was the Co-Lead/Lead Artist along with Joel Burgess and we built that using about half the team (with no programming support) in about four months. I’m still really proud of that DLC.

Bethesda’s title is among the best video games from the franchise and was “universally acclaimed” by the critics. Last year, a few rumors surrounding a remaster surfaced on the internet, but there’s nothing official on it yet.

That’s Fallout and Skyrim, All Packed up in One

He parted ways with Bethesda in 2021.

The foundations of The Axis Unseen started with titles like Skyrim. Although it’s not a sequel or a spin-off, the game got its inspiration from Bethesda’s action role-playing game. The way everything looked in Skyrim fascinated him, he told Washington Square News in 2021.

His ******* to work in video games was almost imminent, as he had wanted to do that since third grade. Nate joined Bethesda in 2007, where he ended up with his first real gig, Fallout 3. Initially, he developed Little Lamplight and some other in-game locations, and then some more.

Despite the video game being wrapped in a solo development, it looks like a visual treat to the eyes. We will see all his experiences coming together in The Axis Unseen, most likely by the end of this year.

Have you seen the game’s trailer yet? If yes, what do you think about it? Don’t forget to tell us in the comments section below.
