Mini Motorways is bringing a new Creative Mode in an update coming soon

• Creative Mode will release on August 26th

Back in April, Mini Motorways took a scenic detour through Copenhagen with the Spires and Tires update. Now, the road’s stretching in a whole new direction. The minimalist traffic management sim is getting its most requested feature yet – the Creative Mode.

Creative Mode will finally come to Mini Motorways on August 26th as a free update on Apple Arcade, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. If you’ve ever stared at a congested city layout and wished you could just move that one pesky house, or 20, Creative Mode is about to be your dream come true.

It hands you the keys to the city, letting you reposition houses, destinations, and even recolour them across any existing map. That includes every roundabout-choked street and motorway-stretched skyline introduced over the past six years.

And it’s not just about cosmetic tweaks. Creative Mode brings more upgrade options than ever before, freeing you to design the most efficient or outlandish city your mind can conjure. Want to snake motorways through mountain passes, nestle homes into quiet tree-lined corners, or test gridlock-proof perfection with unlimited tools? Now you can.

This marks Mini Motorways’ fourth major mode, joining Classic, Endless, and Expert. But unlike those, Creative Mode ditches the score-chasing in favour of pure expression. It’s city-building without constraints, where the only limit is how far you want to bend the rules of urban design.
