One-sided games dominate West Kimberley Football League round six

The Broome Towns destroyed the Derby Tigers at the weekend as West Kimberley Football League teams went to battle in round six.

Broome Towns kicked four goals in the opening term, securing a substantial lead, while the Derby Tigers kicked only one as the two teams went head-to-head on Derby Oval on Saturday afternoon, 4.2 (26) to 1.2 (8).

It was no better for the Tigers in the second term, with the Towns kicking six goals to the Tigers’ one, 2.2 (14) to 10.6 (66).

The third term was another blow out with the Towns scoring another four goals while the Tigers struggled, scoring just one goal, 14.10 (94) to 3.2 (20).

The Tigers stepped up in the final term by managing to kick two goals, but it was all but over for the side as the Broome Towns had scored another six goals, running away with the win, 20.13 (133) to 5.2 (32).

The Tigers’ Craig Buckley, Patrick Carter, Ralph Cox, Buddy Francis and Wade Wungundin tied for their side’s top-scorer on one goal each.

It was a much closer match between the Looma Eagles and the Bidyadanga Emus on Father McMahon Oval on Saturday afternoon.

By the end of the first term there was only one point separating the two sides, with the Eagles in the lead, 1.4 (10) to 1.3 (9).

By the end of the second the gap had been extended to just two points but the Emus had taken the lead this time, 4.7 (31) to 4.5 (29).

The Eagles started to get ahead in the third term, scoring six goals to the Emus’ two to establish a 23-point lead, 10.8 (68) to 6.9 (45).

The final term saw the Eagles cling on to the lead as the Emus made a final surge on the scoreboard, kicking five goals to the Eagles’ two, but it wasn’t enough to take the lead, 12.11 (83) to 11.10 (76).

Despite the loss, the Emus’ Taryce Stewart was the top goal-scorer of the match on four goals.

The Broome Bulls destroyed the Broome Saints in a one-sided affair on Nipper Roe Oval on Saturday afternoon, 16.16 (112) to 4.2 (26)

Cable Beach and the Peninsula Bombers had a bye.
