Why We Partnered With St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Game Informer has committed to donating 5% of every subscription purchase price to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. If you’ve already subscribed or you’re thinking about joining us, we want to tell you more about our decision and help you understand precisely what that money can do.

As Game Informer returned after our hiatus, we talked a lot about what we wanted the outlet to be. Something that arose was the idea that, in whatever small way we can, we want to make gaming a little bit better because you choose to read or watch what we do. We hope your gaming hobby is better informed and more entertaining, and we hope that the way we write and talk about games helps, in some small way, to foster a better overall conversation about games as well.

We also want to mirror what we’ve heard from our community over the years; many of you have told us that you value opportunities to give back and connect your love of gaming to the wider world. So, we committed to making that a core part of what we do.

While there are countless remarkable charities with whom we could partner, we ultimately gravitated to St. Jude for some convincing reasons. Most crucially, we strongly believe in their mission and think it’s a cause that any one of you can also get behind.

St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood ******* and other life-threatening diseases. The hospital treats children from across the United States regardless of race, religion, or ability to pay. Internationally, St. Jude shares what it has learned and its technology to improve the survival rates of children with life-threatening illnesses everywhere.

When St. Jude opened in 1962, childhood ******* was often considered incurable. In the years since, St. Jude has helped push the overall survival rate in the U.S. from 20% to more than 80%. We know you share our desire to see that percentage continue to rise.

Many of us know families who have faced the heartbreak of a hard diagnosis for a child in their family. Some of us have faced that challenge firsthand among our own families or friends. If you can imagine that situation being the reality for a child in your own life, it’s not hard to understand why it’s worth trying to help.
