Beginning around 6:30 a.m. on Friday, there will be a long-term closure of Benton Boulevard beneath Interstate 70 between Truman Road and 13th Street. The I-70 westbound on-ramp will remain open to southbound traffic on Benton Blvd. during the closure. Truman Road, Indiana Avenue, and 13th Street will be the routes of the designated detour. The Improve I-70 KC project focuses on the five-mile stretch of Interstate 70 in Kansas City between The Paseo Blvd. and US 40/31 St. This section of I-70, according to Missouri Department of Transportation. The $237 million project will upgrade connectivity in areas with high traffic congestion during rush hours and traffic incidents by replacing aging infrastructure. Twenty-six bridges and twelve interchanges will be replaced or refurbished as part of this project. MoDOT said the project will improve the safety and reliability of this section of I-70.
