After Ultron, Marvel Rivals Needs War Machine as a Flying Tank

Season 2.5 of Marvel Rivals introduced a new unit – Ultron, who is the first flight-based Strategist in the game. Naturally, his release brought with it a ton of speculation as to Netease Games’ ongoing direction and the possibility of future aerial units.

Marvel Rivals could do well to introduce a flight-based tank to the mix, and there is simply no better candidate than War Machine here. War Machine could be an excellent addition to the game, and shake things up just a little to keep it fresh.

War Machine is the flying Vanguard we deserve in Marvel Rivals

Vanguards are a class of tanks, characterized by their ability to absorb ridiculous amounts of damage (on account of them having a massive HP pool), and often being able to retaliate with a counter at times.

They are an essential part of every team and have quite an important role to play. So much so, many often consider the Vanguard class the most essential archetype out there – a true do-it-all unit.

That is why it is a shame we have yet to receive any flight-capable units for this particular Marvel Rivals class.

War Machine could be the perfect solution for this, and nothing beats flying around in an armored suit while taking hits like a champ. Of course, simply tanking hits will not be enough, and having War Machine built as a pseudo-DPS would also do wonders.

After all, he possesses the requisite horsepower to do so. For the uninitiated, War Machine is a custom-built suit of armor with an incredibly deadly, precise arsenal of weapons at his disposal.

With so much firepower on hand, War Machine could also very easily be a Duelist instead. However, given his defensive capabilities (and the fact that we have too many Duelists out already), the character might be best realized as a tank instead.

This is why the Vanguard role fits him perfectly, which would also allow for a way to incorporate his ‘abilities’ even more seamlessly as well. That’s as far as solo play is concerned.

Since we already have Iron Man in Marvel Rivals, adding War Machine as his support partner seems like a no-brainer. The duo would make for an unstoppable combination and might quickly grow to be one of the most popular combos out there.

Marvel Rivals needs to balance its roster out a bit more

It’s no secret that Marvel Rivals has a major issue with regard to the way it handles game balance. Netease Games simply does not care enough, and certain heroes feel a lot worse than others, both in terms of handling and DPS/heals.

Netease Games’ approach to this has been to simply release new, more powerful units to combat the problem, but this causes more issues than it solves. Furthermore, this effectively phases out older units, many of whom need a buff at this point.

While the game is still relatively young, it is hoped that Netease Games will quickly fix these issues.
