Fighting Souls State of Play 2025 Trailer

Sony’s June 2025 State of Play gave us the first look at Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, a 4v4 tag-team fighter from Arc System Works, Marvel Games, and PlayStation Studios. If you’ve heard of Arc before, it’s because the studio has previously worked on Guilty Gear and Dragon Ball FighterZ.

This time, the studio is bringing its expertise, anime-inspired aesthetic, and deep combat systems to the Marvel universe. The game is scheduled for release in 2026 on PS5 and PC, but which Marvel characters will be in the game? We’re glad you asked because we already have a list of confirmed names for launch.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls has eight confirmed characters so far

So far, eight Marvel characters have been officially confirmed for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. And as you’d expect, our favorite characters have been given a makeover by Arc System Works to match the studio’s stylized aesthetic. This is similar to the design we’ve seen in Guilty Gear or Dragon Ball FighterZ. The confirmed characters are:

), the developers carefully balanced the roster to include fan-favorite characters and characters who could add something unique to the game.

There are so many amazing Marvel characters that it was quite a struggle to choose our roster, but we did have some criteria for the selection process. First and foremost, we wanted to include characters who we feel to be the ‘face’ of Marvel. At the same time, we also needed to select characters that would give us a balance of battle types and styles.”

Yamanaka also teased that there are “a few surprises” in store, hinting at future additions that could include characters never before featured in a fighting game. So these are the characters that we know are confirmed, but if the devs are to be believed, we can expect a lot more.

Game Director Kazuto Sekine also says that Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is designed to be accessible without needing much investment. Unlike traditional team fighting games, where you need to learn many characters, players here only need to focus on one main character. Supporting characters can jump into action with the press of a button for assists, combos, or Ultimate Skills.

This mechanic is a key part of the game’s 4v4 structure, which is also a departure from the usual 2v2 or 3v3 tag team formats. So what they decided was instead to step it up to 4v4. So now we’ll have all the crazy and over-the-top action, but it will also be something new for the genre. And knowing Marvel characters, the team-up abilities will be crazy.
