Capcom’s long-dormant science fiction IP is now finally active, thanks to Sony’s June State of Play, as Pragmata received a new trailer, showcasing gameplay and also confirming a 2026 release window. Nearly 5 years after its initial reveal, we have more information about the mysterious title.

While the game is an action-adventure title at heart, the setting is heavily reminiscent of a legendary survival horror IP that’s now in hibernation. Sure, there aren’t any Necromorphs or Unitologists running around in Pragmata, but the eerie vibes are undeniable.

resembles Dead Space’s USG Ishimura, although not as grimey and bloody, since it’s overrun by rogue AI and not humanoid horrors beyond comprehension.

The trailer further showcases some gameplay snippets, featuring dual protagonists Hugh and Diana, evading the grasp of the AI plaguing the space station. Hugh seems to be wearing heavy armor, just like Isaac wearing his iconic engineering rig.

Additionally, the over-the-shoulder third-person shooting mechanics featured in the Pragmata trailer take us back to the days of cutting off the limbs of Necromorphs with the Plasma Cutter in Dead Space.

Did you notice Hugh using his boosters to traverse the space station interior? It’s very reminiscent of the zero-gravity sections featured in the Dead Space Remake, as those also had you flying around the Ishimura, repairing the ship and getting rid of lurking threats.

We don’t exactly know how Pragmata will play in-depth, but the Dead Space influences are strong with this one. Plus, Capcom is a master at creating horror titles, so we wouldn’t be surprised if they sprinkled some horror elements throughout the experience.

Even though EA currently has no plans to make another Dead Space, Capcom’s venture into science fiction with Pragmata might just scratch that itch.

2026 is shaping up to be one of the best years of gaming, not only due to the release of the record-shattering Grand Theft Auto 6 but also because of other releases from major publishers such as Pragmata itself.

One of the most anticipated games of next year is IO Interactive’s 007: First Light, which dives into James Bond’s early years as a spy, and then you have Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, which is reminiscent of Marvel vs. Capcom titles.

To add to the list, FromSoftware’s The Duskbloods makes its way onto Nintendo Switch 2 exclusively next year, and Housemarque makes its grand return to the roguelite genre with Saros.
