Short Circuit Studios is one of those developers that seems to be an ever-present aspect of our reporting. For good reason, too, as whether it’s Teeny Tiny Trains or Tiny Connections, they’re always bringing new and interesting twists to different genres. Now, one of their highlights is turning two as Teeny Tiny Trains greets its anniversary with a new crossover!

The award-winning city puzzle builder sees you taking on the task of building up your own little town from nothing. Simply merge three of the same thing, and slowly work your way up from simple trees to sprawling high-rises and a vast cityscape.

Now, to celebrate two years since launch, Short Circuit Studios are tying in one of their more recent releases, Townsfolk, with Teeny Tiny Town by offering a new theme unlockable via a quest. This changes the graphics to resemble the eight-bit visuals of Townsfolk in a fun little easter-egg for fans of the studio.

Short Circuit Studios have good reason to be proud of Teeny Tiny Town, as this award-winning city-building puzzler is what caught many critics’ eyes. And with its simple mix of merge mechanics and the evergreen appeal of building up a city from nothing, I’d anticipate many more years of success.

While Townsfolk may not necessarily be as long-lasting, our reviewer had a fun time with it and gave it a respectable 3/5. Jack Brassell pointed to a steep learning curve and somewhat generic tone, especially compared to the stand-out aesthetic of Short Circuit’s other releases.
