Here are some totals Rain drenched must of eastern Kansas on June 3, with the National Weather Service recording 6.21 inches at Beach Factory Airport in Wichita. Topeka was also among the wettest places in the Sunflower State, with the weather service recording rainfall amounts for the day totaling 3.22 inches at Forbes Field and 2.91 inches at office its near Philip Billard Municipal Airport. The rain caused minor to moderate flooding, particularly in east-central and southeast Kansas, the weather service said. It indicated much of that area remained June 4 under flood warnings regarding bodies of water that included the Arkansas River, Whitewater River, Neosho River, Cottonwood River, Walnut River and Wichita’s Cowskin Creek. Rainfall totals varied greatly by location. Only 0.57 inches was recorded for the day by the weather service seven miles southeast of Holton in Jackson County, north of Topeka. The National Weather Service’s Wichita office posted the morning of June 4 on its website this map showing areas (in green) that were under flood warnings. Here are other high rainfall totals Here are seven of the other places where rainfall totals were well above average were recorded June 3 in Kansas: • 2.47 inches at Wichita’s Dwight D. Eisenhower Airport. • 2.41 inches at the Coffeyville airport. • 2.35 inches at the Lawrence airport. • 2.24 inches at Wichita’s weather service office. • 2.10 inches at Chanute. • 1.72 inches at both the Hutchinson and Parsons airports.
