To kick off the June 4 State of Play, Enhance announced Lumines Arise. It is a follow-up to Lumines, a cult-classic puzzle game that first released on PSP in 2004 before being remastered in 2018.

Lumines is a rhythmic puzzle game where players try to create squares of the same color while placing 2×2 blocks. A timeline comes across the screen every few seconds to the beat of whatever songs are playing in the background, clearing groups of the same color when passing over them. Lumines Arise takes that core and applies the same psychedelic visual style to Lumines’ gameplay that Tetris Effect did to Tetris’ classic gameplay.

, Enhance revealed more about what’s new in Lumines Arise. There’s a new mechanic called Burst, which players can use after filling up a meter by creating combos. Using Burst allows players to lock a formed square to the playfield, giving them a limited time to create a massive square of colors to score a lot of points. The DualSense will also vibrate in a way that keeps players in tune with the beat of the song. Lumines Arise will feature over 30 stages and include new music from Hydelic, who also worked on Tetris Effect’s score.

Lumines Arise will be released for PS5 and PlayStation VR 2 sometime in Fall 2025. A demo featuring Lumines Arise’s single-player and multiplayer modes will be released sometime this summer.
