Helldivers 2 has already found success and is known as one of 2024’s biggest live-service games. And Arrowhead Game Studios has taken this success and brought it through to 2025. We recently played through what will probably be the best update the game’s seen for a while. But while we have this downtime after the battle for Super Earth, we need Arrowhead to see this idea.

What truly sells the Warbond is its weapon lineup. The 3516 Malorian Custom, clearly inspired by Johnny Silverhand’s iconic pistol, is a medium armor-penetrating sidearm. Then there’s the M251S Ajax assault rifle, and a cheekily named Cut-O-Matic, which is a bladed chainsword that some fans immediately called out as an attempt to sneak Warhammer 40K weapons into the game.

The Warbond feels like a love letter to both franchises. We love how the Malorian Custom is a nod to CD Projekt Red’s own version in the game. But the design isn’t just about aesthetics. In terms of support equipment, the Carnage Heavy Shotgun is a hellpod drop that has rounds that penetrate heavy armor.

The GASH Antipersonnel Grenade is a throwable that spins mid-air for several seconds and emits several lasers. It’s a gadget that feels like it walked out of CD Projekt Red’s oven. Even the Pain Editor booster is a clever addition. It prevents players from being staggered during the stim animation, which subtly references the cybernetic enhancements we see in Cyberpunk.

The timing of this fan-made crossover couldn’t be better. It’s been a while since Helldivers 2 had a crossover, and the Killzone crossover left a lot to be desired. Granted, it was the first one for the game. But now, Arrowhead has a good idea of what players want and don’t want. And with so many community ideas already floating about, it wouldn’t be hard to do.

Arrowhead recently teased that a new crossover is currently in “the very early stages” of development. Although nothing official has been announced, fans have already made up their minds on the top choices for potential crossovers. Deep Rock Galactic, Warhammer 40K, and Titanfall 2. With this new idea, Cyberpunk 2077 is firmly in that list.

We can’t really know exactly what the next crossover will really be, but the community knows what it wants. Does Arrowhead?
