Fans Are Just Noticing a Minute Detail in The Last of Us Part 2 That Reveals Naughty Dog’s Obsession With Perfection

The Last of Us Part 2 (2020) holds up pretty well against the test of time. Even after all these years, fans are still finding some unique features that were overlooked by the general public. Be it realistic physics or minute details, the game sure proves Naughty Dog’s dedication to providing perfection.

Some may say Red Dead Redemption 2 is probably the most detailed game ever, but TLOU Part 2 doesn’t fall short. Such detailing is highly appreciated by fans as it shows how much love was poured into their favorite titles. That’s what matters the most.

Naughty Dog might be known as a controversial studio, but there’s no denying, they are capable of doing wonders. This becomes more apparent as fans find new details that weren’t known before. For instance, on r/thelastofus, user SHDthedivision, put forward a similar interesting fact.

As per their findings, enemies who get hit by blunt objects seem to send their teeth out flying. On closer inspection, it does look a bit over-exaggerated, but it’s a video game. Still, it is an interesting detail that Naughty Dog put in to convey how hard the character hits.

It’s fairly common to see blood splats when a character’s face gets hit, however, this is some next-level stuff. Who even will stop time to see some random NPCs lose their teeth after dying? But again, Naughty Dog still considered it an important feature to add. Don’t know if that’s impressive or simply weird, you be the judge here.

Other than NPCs losing their pearls, there are details that do make sense. If NPCs get hit by glass bottles to their face, shards can get stuck on it. So many ways to give a free facial surgery, huh? Jokes aside, these tiny details do add extra depth to The Last of Us Part 2. Not that everyone will notice, but if they do, they’ll appreciate it.

Attention to detail seems to be the driving force of Naughty Dog

HBO’s take on TLOU might be lacking when it comes to portraying the story with accuracy; the same isn’t true for Naughty Dog. The Last of Us Part 2 has a plethora of details that make the experience immersive. No, it’s not tiny like teeth flying and glass shards kissing the face of NPCs.

Let’s talk about some gore elements that can compete with the likes of Doom. If you shoot an enemy’s body with a shotgun at close range, they can lose their limbs. Not just that, when their temple is shot, the brain and blood splatter is pretty realistic too. Too brutal? Well, that’s how an apocalypse is.

Lore elements are a big part of The Last of Us Part 2 experience as well. If you have been paying attention to the game, Abby has Vertigo. So whenever Abby looks below from a higher ground, a camera effect is triggered. Neat!

Naughty Dog’s fixation on minute details might be jarring, but that’s good. Adding such details just improves the immersion. However, if a game only has fun details with no bite, it wouldn’t cut it. Gladly speaking, that is not the case for The Last of Us Part 2, and it shouldn’t change.
