Best Map Landmarks to Prioritize Early in Elden Ring Nightreign

The night reigns (haha) swiftly in Elden Ring Nightreign as the three-day time limit in every run constantly works against you, leaving not a second to lose while traversing Limveld. The days of going wherever you like in Caelid or sniffing out every inch of Limgrave in Elden Ring are over.

There are several Landmarks in Nightreign‘s map, so you need to capitalize on the time provided and prioritize certain areas over others to make the most of your three-day journey through Limveld. Pack your things, await the Spectral Hawk, and be prepared to seize the night.

Make the most out of your early runs with these Landmarks in Elden Ring Nightreign

Elden Ring Nightreign features a plethora of Landmarks, and as a beginner, you need to pick and choose where to go since some areas may not be a starter’s cup of crimson tears. Plus, the map is dynamic and ever-changing, so don’t expect routes to stay the same with each run.

As soon as you land in Limveld, don’t rush towards every boss or enemy you see, as you might be underpowered against the threats plaguing certain Landmarks. Follow the list below and prioritize these Landmarks to stay ahead of night’s grasp and spend your time efficiently:

  1. Fort: Forts are a great place to start for beginners touring Limveld for the first time. Since you’re underleveled, these forts can be a great place to farm runes. Forts are filled with soldiers that should be a cakewalk for a three-man team, They also contain rooms hiding treasures and maps highlighting nearby Talismans.
  2. Ruins: Just like in Elden Ring, destroyed ruins are home to different types of enemies that can be helpful for farming runes and getting experience. They also contain small underground passages guarding multiple treasures and chests, making it a good area for starters.
  3. Church: Churches in Elden Ring Nightreign are located all around the map and contain a Site of Grace. There are no enemies in this area, similar to the Church of Marika in Elden Ring, and it also contains an additional Sacred Flask at the church altar. So if you’re landing near a church, make sure to give it a visit.
  4. Tunnels: These are underground mines that are home to lower-level Smithing Stones, the likes of Smithing Stone [1]s and Smithing Stone [2]s that can be obtained from a boss in this area. It’s worth taking a look at if you’re a beginner on Day 1 of Limveld.
  5. The Great Church: These are destroyed buildings that sometimes have an underground passage on the lower level. The upper level spawns rare items and Sacred Seals if the RNG gods bless you. Worth checking out if you’re in the vicinity of one.

Visit all these Landmarks in Elden Ring Nightreign to get a feel of what you’re dealing with in Limveld. Defeat enemies and mini bosses to level up quickly and try to be above level five before the second day of the run commences.

Keep in mind that areas do not reset with the day changing, so if you missed out on visiting an area on day one, use the second day to wrap up unfinished business. Use the Spectral Hawk for traversing the map only when required.

Elden Ring Nightreign is smaller in scope than Elden Ring

Elden Ring Nightreign’s frantic gameplay and upgraded mobility come with their own set of restrictions in the sense that the map is not as open as Elden Ring’s. It’s smaller and tighter, but it changes with each run, which adds a lot to the gameplay loop and replayability.

There’s a clock ticking from the moment you lay foot on Limveld, so these Landmarks make it easier to pinpoint where you want to head. The Landmarks will be visible on your map and show you where to go and what items to get. This drives home the fact that it’s a roguelike, smaller in scope title.

Before you dive into a match, make a layout of which Landmarks you want to go to and how to approach them, since bosses and enemies are around every corner. Just be sure to hit the Landmarks mentioned above in your journey, and you’ll ease into the gameplay loop in no time.

Elden Ring Nightreign is out now on all platforms.
