Australind edge past Hay Park in tight contest between reserves sides

Australind Soccer Club edged out Hay Park United 1-0 in a tight contest on the weekend to remain second in the South West Soccer Association reserves table.

With second and third going head-to-head in the clash, it was a physical slog, defined by few chances and one long-range blast from Juan Orozco, which sailed over the head of Hay Park’s Jack Best — who was caught off his line — into the net in the 13th minute.

Despite the goalkeeping error, Best was the man of the match, coming up with a flurry of saves in the second half to keep Hay Park in the match.

Australind forward Luca Spadaccini was quiet throughout and struggled to get a grip on the play, despite being influential in the first team game between the two sides in round one.

Hay Park battled hard defensively but never really threatened in front of goal, with their attacks breaking down due to poor passing and a lack of pace up front.

The result leaves Australind in second, eight points behind Bunbury Dynamos who have taken the league by storm with an 8-0 win-loss record and a plus-44 goal difference.
